Epibiota workshop Spring
2007
- Epibiota workshop was held 11th to 12th April 2007
Remote photography/video is increasingly being used in survey
and monitoring work as a means of investigating the benthic
environment. NMBAQC convened a workshop to determine the parameters
for QA of video footage. The aim is to be able to have QA
of image "samples" in the same way we currently
undertake QA of traditional biological samples.
The workshop aimed to answer the following -
- - Can we have a universal scheme that covers all uses
of video (inshore/offshore, conservation/fisheries)?
- - What are the requirements of the scheme?
- - What are the training needs and resources required
to produced high quality assessments?
The workshop was attended by representatives of the environmental,
conservation and fisheries agencies as well as industry. The
two day event found areas of commonality between different
sectors utilising video and agreed the basis on which trials
will be taken forward.
A sub-group of NMBAQC will put together a contract specification
based on the outcomes of the workshop and this will be taken
forward over the next 18 months to develop the AQC model.
